DAVID HERNANDEZ was born in Zaragoza, Spain, and has lived in Omaha for the last 12 years. Hernandez studied Graphic Design at MCC and currently works in the design/production field. He loves the simplicity of drawing and painting more than any other art form and although he does digital work, he believes that for him, creativity starts with a pencil or paintbrush in hand. Primarily self-taught, his preferred medium is oil painting. His urban landscapes capture unique views of the places he has been.
Recently, he exhibited for the Bemis Benefit Art Auction, Raw Artists and displayed in Benson First Friday. In 2016 an image of his art was selected for public display as part of Old Market Banner Project in Downtown Omaha. The artwork was also on the front cover of the Uniquely Local Metro Guide for the Omaha World Herald. David was nominated with other artists of Banner Project for best public art display at the 11th OEA awards. A framed print of the painting can be seen at Gallery 72 in Omaha.
At a young age, David looked up to artists like Picasso and Van Gogh and found it fascinating that they could be rebellious when painting with oil. Today, his goal is to keep creating by staying inspired, and to keep inspiring others.
